Author Irene Keller is putting an end to the myths about weight loss and offering her educated as well as first-hand knowledge and advice about the best ways to lose the unwanted pounds for good. In her new book “Foodaholic: The Seven Stages to Permanent Weight Loss,” you learn all the facts necessary to gain independence over the battle of the bulge, and grow internally as well, which will contribute to a healthier way of living.  Author, actress and photographer Irene Keller is also a licensed psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience helping people lose weight, keep it off and recover from food addiction. Keller has managed to maintain her own 50-pound weight loss for over 20 years now. As a highly sought-after expert, Irene has appeared on NBC, ABC, KTLA and UPN news, in addition to “Penn and Teller’s” original series. She is also the resident weight loss expert on Dr. David Kipper’s KABC radio show. When reading Keller’s amazing new book, you feel as though you are getting advice not only from an expert, but from someone who cares. “Foodaholic: The Seven Stages to Permanent Weight Loss” is not your typical diet book with lots of gimmicks. The book is well-researched and very effective in its readability for almost anyone to take the steps Keller gives the reader, and advice she offers to make the changes necessary in your own life to take off the weight and keep it off forever.

Having been a psychotherapist for many years, the author has gained great insight into what triggers we use in our lives to make excuses for putting on weight that we all know ultimately are not only unhealthy physically, but also causes stress and even depression in some cases. The book is not only well written, but it’s filled with some anecdotal evidence that we can all utilize in our daily lives that involves diets and lifestyle changes that bring about the change we ultimately need to find inner happiness and physical good health. The 126-page book is not only instructional and informative, but very inspiring as well. Having known Irene personally for quite some time, I know that she worried over every detail while writing this book because she wanted it to be something any individual could pick up and learn from. She also wanted to help others. In this book, she has achieved her goal. The book belongs on a shelf in every home in America, especially in this era of increasing morbid obesity. However, even if it’s just 15 or 25 pounds the reader wants to take off, this book will not only encourage and educate, but inspire you to challenge yourself to be healthier and look better. Isn’t that the American dream?

Reading this book is not only enlightening, but it is refreshing. Finally an expert with a heart who doesn’t bother with the use of calling people names or trying to motivate the reader with false initiatives. Keller instinctively knows that type of motivation does not inspire, and what actually works ultimately comes from within. So, once you make the choice to live healthier and take off the pounds, this is the only book worth buying on the subject of weight loss and better health, and it’ll be the last one you will ever need to buy.

“Foodaholic: The Seven Stages to Permanent Weight Loss” is published by Mill City Press, Inc. and is available at Amazon.com, Foodaholic.net and also available wherever books are sold.  Diesel Bookstore, one of the city’s last independently-owned stores in Brentwood. 310-576-9960.

Pragmatic approach without the faddish food obsessions July 30, 2011

Love this book. Ms. Rubaum-Keller’s guide is pragmatic, comforting and funny. She explains how we approach food emotionally which is the first baby step towards permanent weight loss…. no mystery, no gimmicks, no fads. She ladles out solid advice gently yet in a very no nonsense, honest manner. For example, she teaches us to KNOW our bodies using simple tactile methods….Get on the scale, take photos, try on some clothes, feel yourself and be proud that you have taken these first steps. It only gets more interesting from there. Tired of all the snake oil diet trends out there? Try this wonderful book on for size!
